CMEC strives to equip musicians with the tools to build safe, equitable, and inclusive workplaces and learning spaces that uphold the highest standards of professionalism through education, advocacy, and community support networks.

To realize our mission, we engage in the following activities: 

  1. Sharing best practices for cultivating ethical workplaces through multiple channels including workshops, mentorship, newsletters, social media, and working directly with interested organizations.

  2. Supporting musicians and educators in their efforts to create safe spaces for learning and working. We define safe spaces as places for individuals to grow and develop as well as environments where people can share their experiences and are supported as they navigate their next steps.

  3. Collaborating with and complementing the efforts of activists and organizations working for an industry-wide change of culture.
